Though in the modern age we tend to use it to refer specifically to the gladius Hispaniensis of the Roman legions.

Tech-fist and Mech-leg are both Vigilantes and are stated to fight supervillains together, coincidence? They are the only heroes apart from maybe the Mr. Justice Alliance raid (who is he anyway? I wish I could see the rallying cries on Kong)
Tech-fist and Mech-leg are both Vigilantes and are stated to fight supervillains together, coincidence?
No, it's not a coincidence. I made them a husband / wife team because of the 5PG employees they're based on.
They are the only heroes apart from maybe the Mr. Justice Alliance raid
There are some other examples. Grim Reaper is also a vigilante, for example.
(who is he anyway? I wish I could see the rallying cries on Kong)
As soon as the tech can be put in place, that information should be available as tool-tips on all platforms. The one for Mr. Justice is just a short snippet though. It reads as follows:
It was a noble endeavor. A law enforcement agent crippled in the line of duty volunteered for an experiment designed to turn him into a superhero capable of waging war on the criminal underworld. But something went wrong, and Mr. Justice has gone berserk. Now he threatens the very people he wished to protect.
Cheap Shot is a meta-joke. In that, all first attacks are basically cheap shots, so why not make a literal card called that and make it rather terrible except in that one condition?
The name wasn't intended to be a reference / joke.
Sunder's phone number on the Collect Call card looks like 209 which would put him in Northern California not too far from the 5th Planet Games offices
The number was actually put together at random, so that's a coincidence.
Also, since she's described as being a part-human, part-gorilla, part-tiger and part-shark, the number 4 sort of fits with the name. This also fits as her being the 'next' boss after Three Harmonies, as 4 follows 3. She's also a key part of the time travel plot of volume 2, and time is often seen as the 4th dimension.
